While following most A-lister trends can prove pricey, the latest must-have celebrity accessory is much more affordable.
Everyone from model Cara Delevingne to socialite Olivia Palermo, and pretty much the whole Kardashian clan, have attached pom pom charms to their designer handbags.
The pom pom bag charm, also referred to as a puff keyring, first featured on the catwalks of fashion house Fendi and has now filtered down as one of the key trends on the high street.
Fendi created mini, fluffy versions of its renowned creative director Karl Lagerfeld, with a price tag of just under £1,000.
While that designer puff was made from mink and fox, with a goat’s hair tuft of ponytail, the Handbag Clinic in Newcastle has rabbit fur pom poms at £14.95.
Charlotte Staerck, buyer at Chelsea and Newcastle-based Handbag Clinic, said: “While you may not be able to buy a Chanel or a Celine bag in every colour, buying a few handbag pom poms in different hues is a great way to easily, stylishly and inexpensively update your look.
“Many of our customers are choosing to buy a few and layer them up on their larger bags to create a look which is completely unique. Another big trend for the party season is to team an oversized bag pom pom with a small clutch bag, so you can immediately bring a vintage bag bang up-to-date.”
The Handbag Clinic opened its first standalone store on London’s Kings Road in February last year, before launching on Newcastle’s Mosely Street in November, 2015.
The firm cleans, repairs and recolours designer handbags from the world’s leading fashion houses, as well as restoring the red soles of Christian Louboutin shoes.
Its Newcastle branch also sources and sells vintage and pre-loved bags from the likes of Chanel, Celine and Louis Vuitton, and stocks handbag pom poms in a number of colours.
