Black Cats stars swap footballs for darts

Stars from Sunderland AFC swapped footballs for darts to take to the stage with two darting legends.

Lee Cattermole, Billy Jones, Vito Mannone and Jack Rodwell joined Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday, March 22.

Jack “The Lad” Rodwell, Lee “The Mole” Cattermole, Vito “Italian Stallion” Mannone and Billy “Cheese Strings” Jones all showcased their skills on the oche.

Mr Cattermole said: “It was a great event to be part of. Myself and the lads were actually a little bit nervous but Phil and Gary were brilliant in giving us tips and helping to put us at ease.

“I think all the fans there on the on the night had a great time, they were certainly a lively crowd, and money was raised for the Foundation of Light too, which is a fantastic cause.”

The sporting evening saw the Black Cats players taking part in a re-run of the 2015 PDC World Darts Championship Final with the two stars.

Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor and Gary ‘The Flying Scotsman’ Anderson went head to head.

Taylor came out on top in the encounter, after impressing throughout the night.

The stadium was one of only five venues across the UK to host the two darts legends in this blockbuster event, with tickets selling out in just a matter of hours.
