Sunderland dog shortlisted for national award

Suki the Minature Schnauzer has been selected as part of the PDSA Pet Survivor award. The national competition recognises pets that have battled hard times and supported their owners through their sometimes hard life.

Sukis owner Marjorie Nicholson was heartbroken when Suki was attacked by a much larger dog while out for a walk. Suki was rushed to the local PDSA hospital in Gateshead for life saving treatment which included removing an embedded tooth from the attacking dog. Suki means so much to Marjorie since her husband died and Marjorie adopted her from 3 weeks old, now 9 years later Suki has helped Marjorie through some tough times.

Suki faces some tough competition as featured in the competition is a cat the has survived third degree burns and another dog that survived a 50mph collision with a car.

the judges selected six pets from the hundreds that were entered nationwide, voting closes on the December 13th with the hashtag #PetSurvivor.
