Police are releasing photographs of a number of pieces of silverware in an effort to trace the owners.
On September 28, these items were sold as scrap to a jeweller’s in Newcastle.
The seller was a woman who told the shop she was from the Durham area.
The shop notified the police about the items as staff were suspicious about them and officers seized them.
There are no reports of the items having been stolen from anywhere in the Northumbria Police area and enquiries are ongoing to identify the owner of the items.
Anyone who recognises the items, or who has any information about them, is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 for the attention of PC1302.
