South Shields Day Trips suspended after woman is arrested on suspicion of fraud

Northumbria Police have confirmed that from today all trips booked through South Shields Day Trips Facebook page have been suspended.

The company has also suspended its operations pending the outcome of the police investigation after a 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of fraud and bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Paul Stewart, who is leading the investigation, said: “Northumbria Police has taken over 200 complaints in relation to this Facebook page.

“Every customer who has come forward to us will be seen by officers and a statement taken in due course.

“We understand people’s disappointment and frustration at this.

“I would ask for people’s patience – officers will be in touch but this understandably may take time due to the volume of complaints we’ve received.

“I would once again urge anyone with information, or who believes they are a victim of this potential fraud, to come forward so we can also investigate their case.”

People can contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference number 628 24/07/15.
