Three people have been arrested after a bus ploughed into a Sunderland house yesterday.

Police were called to Merle Terrace, Pallion, after a Go North East bus crashed into the terraced property at 5.09pm yesterday.

Three men aged 17, 18 and 22 have been arrested and are currently in custody helping police with their inquiries.

One person was in the house at the time of collision but was not injured. Meanwhile, five people inside the bus were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

It is thought the crash happened after a Renault Clio collided with the bus causing it to veer off the road.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 831 120515.
