Hyde and Beast announced as Evolution Emerging headliners

Hyde and Beast have been announced has one of the headline acts for Evolution Emerging.

Generator made the announcement today after choosing from over 400 entries. The North East act will join Lisbon and Shields in the festival that showcases the North Easts best talent.

The band originally played the festival in 2011 after the release of their debut album, now, after national success, including being part of a nationwide campaign for prostate cancer, the announcement of the band returning for the event will bring a lot of hype.

This year the annual festival will take place on Saturday May 23, with 40 acts taking to the line-up. Evolution Emerging will be held over 9 venues in the Ouseburn Valley including The Cluny, The Cumberland Arms and Blank Studios.

Other acts playing the festival include Charlie Dancer, Coquin Migale and Sunderland-born band Alexander. Many people relate the festival to supporting and highlighting lesser known bands.

Generators artist development manager, Bob Allan, said: “I think it’s vital for artists to have live opportunities because it’s a crucial part of their development, so any events that can help support that is really important.”

Last year saw another local success, Martin Longstaff from The Lake Poets, headlining The Clun, the event sold out, with around 1300 people attending. This year is expected to be even bigger and better.

Tickets are on sale now at £5 in advance.
