Police appeal for information following armed robbery in Fence Houses

Police are appealing for information after a worker has been left injured following a armed robbery in Sunderland.

At around 9.50pm on Wednesday, February 4, two men entered the William Hill bookmakers in Front Street at Fence Houses.

One of the men, who was armed with a hammer, approached the counter and demanded that a staff member handed over cash. The man then used the hammer to smash the counter screen and stole an amount of money, the two men then fled the scene.

The staff member suffered a minor injury from the smashed counter screen and was left shaken by the incident.

Both offenders were described as wearing grey clothing and one of them had a grey scarf covering his face.

Anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously, or any suspicious vehicles, in the Front Street of Fencehouses around 9.50pm last night is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 1100 04/02/15.#####
