Young girl knocked down on Chester Road

A 12-year-old girl has been knocked down in Sunderland.

The incident took place at 4.15pm on Friday, October 17.

The girl was crossing the zebra crossing on Chester Road near to the junction with Grindon Lane in the city centre when a red Jeep type vehicle hit her.

The girl fell to the ground, but she was not injured and did not require any medical attention.

After asking the girl if she was ok, the driver of the car drove off and left no details.

Police are appealing for the driver of the vehicle to get in contact.

Enquiries are being carried out into the collision and officers would like anyone who witnessed the incident to get in contact.
