Sunderland Police tackle theft

Police 2

Following a recent issue of burglars stealing items from sheds and garages in Sunderland, police have decided to launch an operation to prevent theft in the area.

The operation is part of Northumbria’s Police Soundwave aimed to to support those residents who have been affected and to tackle those who may be suspect of pursuing these crimes.

The police hope that the residents will notice that more patrols will be surrounding the estates to protect them.

By doing this they hope to find out who is stealing from the  sheds and garages as they are worried that due to the hot weather , residents are staying outside and mistakenly leaving outbuildings open or items out in the garden.

Police urge the people of Sunderland to make sure they are vigilantly when it comes to their sheds and garage being locked up securely. They recommend initialising security lighting or CCTV for extra measure.

Anyone with information about the burglaries and thefts is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. To report a crime ongoing dial 999.

Police are also reminding residents to sign up with free property registering website, and get more crime prevention from the force website.
