University students and Sunderland hotel collaborate for tea event

An unique international tea event is to be held at the Marriott hotel in Seaburn this month.

The residents of Sunderland will have the fantastic opportunity to enjoy five types of international teas ahead of a special event organized entirely by ten Events Management students at the University of Sunderland.

Tomislav Bonev, one of the student organisers, said: “We have put a lot of effort to organise the event and to offer something new and unusual to all tea lovers of Sunderland. We all hope that the event will attract a good number of people who would like to join us and try something new and exotic.”

“I think the students have created great theme for their event and by working in tandem with Marriott they will produce excellent experience for their guests. They have been taught both in the classroom and at the hotel and have gained a great deal of knowledge and skills from working in these environments.

“I expect there to be a lot of interest in the events, as they are unique, fun and very reasonably priced in terms of what is being offered.”

Guests will be offered a special menu of British, Chinese, Indian, Turkish and Thai tea. They will also be able to choose from a variety of refreshments as well as different types of sandwiches.

Music played by a pianist will contribute to the good atmosphere and the gastronomic experience of the guests as a whole.Tomislav also explained the event is part of the organisers’ university coursework, which is set by their lecturer James Scott.

Anyone who wants to take part in the event should buy a ticket for the entry price of £16 by sending an email to or calling 07825765213.
