Police appeal after staff member was allegedly racially abused

Police are appealing for information after a customer was reported to be racially abusive at a South Shields store.

The incident happened at 10.35am on Wednesday February 26, at the Post Office on Horsley Hill Square.

A man entered the store and allegedly racially abused a staff member. The incident continued outside the store and police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed it.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of public order causing harassment, alarm or distress. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
