Sunderland AFC fans have launched a campaign to get D:Ream’s 1990s anthem to number one in the charts ahead of the Capital One Cup final on Sunday.
The song is currently sitting in the iTunes charts at number 38 – with just 4 days to go.
Fans are now being encouraged to purchase the song on iTunes for 99p to coincide with the Capital One Cup Final on March 2.
The campaign was given another boost this morning when D:Ream found out about the campaign and tweeted:
Absolutely overwhelmed by the SAFC efforts so far to Take TCOGB to No1 again. I’m gonna put a score on them to win 2-1 on Sunday later.

In 2013, Things Can Only Get Better was adopted as a chant by Sunderland fans after the team’s revival under Gus Poyet.
A Facebook group called ‘Let’s get Things can only get better to number 1 for the League Cup Final‘ has already received almost 4,000 likes. Join the campaign and purchase the song here.
