The Color Run™, known as the “happiest 5k on the planet”, is coming to the North East for the first time this summer and Sunderland will be its only host in the region.

The run, known for promoting health and happiness, sees runners being covered in vibrant coloured paint at each kilometre of the race.

The celebrations are a new genre of running, and the event has already taken states in the USA by storm. The event is brought to the city by Sunderland Live and is the only Color Run in the North East.

You can run, walk, skip or dance your way through the 5K, which will be held in Sunderland on July 20.

The two rules are to wear white at the starting line and to be covered in paint by the finish.

Chris Alexander, Chief Operating Officer of Sunderland Live said: “We are delighted to be bringing The Color Run to the North East for the first time on July 20th 2014, and we’re expecting demand for places to be very high.”

Registration for The Color Run™ will be open to all applicants at 9am on February 7.

Entry fees start from £23.00 per person plus £4.99 for a race pack. You can register here at www.sunderlandlive.co.uk
