North East music event ‘Festival on the Wall’ cancelled

Organisers of Festival on the Wall have announced the cancellation of the music event, blaming “several significant operational challenges.”

The 3-day event, which was to be held at Heddon-on-the-Wall, Northumberland, was due to take place between August 4-6.

Many artists were set to play at the festival, with the line up including the likes of The Libertines, Mark Ronson, The Pet Shop Boys and Twin Atlantic.

Organisers announced the cancellation of the festival on the event’s Facebook page.

Their post said: “After serious consideration and with an incredibly heavy heart, we are sad to announce that Festival on the Wall has been cancelled.

“For the past two years we have put our heart and soul into creating the event that the North East deserves, showcasing everything that is great about this region.

“Unfortunately, several significant operational challenges have made it impossible to continue, and at this point we are left with no choice but to make this very difficult decision.”

Ticket holders were told they would receive an automatic refund, however some fans have been left unhappy with how the situation has been handled, and are yet to receive their money back.

Miriam Calland, from Newcastle, said: “We have waited since they announced the cancellation and we have yet to get a refund.”

“We booked on credit card thankfully but I feel this is going to drag out.”

Ticket promoters Eventbrite were contacted for comment on when customers can expect refunds, and said: “It’s come to our attention that the organiser of this event has communicated that refunds will be issued within a timeline that is unfortunately not possible.

We’re working closely with the event organiser to provide a resolution regarding the refunds as soon as possible, and have informed all attendees by email that refunds will not be issued within the five-day time frame originally communicated by the organiser.”

Festival on the Wall were contacted for comment but no response was received.
